The oak is the tree of German symbolism: oak leaves adorn the reverse of the German 1, 2 and 5 cent coins. Real oaks can live for many centuries and only bear their first acorns after many years. In nature, a single oak feeds hundreds of insect species, a whole cosmos in one tree.
