Nice to know
The tulip doesn't come from Holland but from the mountains of Central Asia, and it reached Europe via the Ottoman Empire. Its name probably goes back to the Turkish word for turban, because the closed bloom resembles the headdress. Yellow tulips were long seen as a symbol of sun and new beginnings.
