Nice to know
Olive trees are among the longest-living cultivated plants: in the Mediterranean there are specimens that already bore fruit in Roman times. The olive tree was sacred to the goddess Athena; according to legend, she gave it to the city of Athens and so won the contest against Poseidon to become its patron.
