Artificial Staghorn Fern Lat. Platycerium bifurcatum Height approx. 50 cmWidth approx. 60 cmNursery pot Ø 15 cm
incl. VAT, plus shipping
A fern that looks as if it's wearing antlers: the artificial staghorn fern spreads its forked fronds around 60 cm wide and stands about 50 cm tall. An unusual piece that draws the eye straight away on a sideboard, shelf or stool.
The fronds fan out flat and wide in all directions, with the typical forks at the tips. In nature they grow up to a metre long; this version stays more manageable and keeps its shape.
The staghorn fern suits interiors with wood, leather and shades of green, in lofts, cafés and offices, anywhere an ordinary green plant would be too tame. Even rooms without windows. For allergy sufferers: no pollen, no spores.

In nature, staghorn ferns (Platycerium) don't grow in the ground but on trees in the tropics of Australia, Asia and Africa. They form two kinds of fronds: flat shield fronds that hug the trunk and collect falling leaves as food, and the antler-shaped fronds that hang freely. That's why real staghorn ferns are often seen mounted on wooden boards on the wall.
