Not a cactus as you know it: the artificial rhipsalis hangs down around 85 cm in fine, branching strands and looks like coral from a reef. Hence the name coral cactus.
The thin green shoots keep branching further and form a loose, almost see-through curtain. At around 35 cm wide, it is slim enough for the spot next to the window and long enough to trail from a high shelf. It has no spines, just like the original.
It works in modern rooms with clean lines, in the bathroom, in the home office or on the living room wall. For anyone who wants something different from the usual hanging plant, and for anyone who wants no watering and no pollen.

Rhipsalis is the only cactus genus that also occurs naturally outside the Americas, for example in Africa, Madagascar and Sri Lanka. It doesn't grow in the desert there, but as an epiphyte on trees in the rainforest, with shoots hanging freely in the air.
