What's in the box
Product description

A sword fern around 59 cm tall that brings soft, lush greenery to a sideboard, stool or shelf. The real plant has arching, overhanging fronds; accordingly, it looks best slightly raised, where the fronds have room to fall.

Its full, soft growth is what makes it special. At about 18 cm wide at the base, the fern fills corners that would otherwise look empty and adds texture to a shelf. A cachepot of your choice gives it support and a setting.

Real ferns need humid air and dislike both radiator heat and draughts. Not this one. It suits a bathroom without a window, the bedroom, offices and practices, the holiday flat. No brown fronds, no pollen, no misting.

  • No watering, no wilting
  • No pollen

Nice to know

Ferns are ancient: they grew long before the first flowering plants and reproduce not from seeds but from spores on the underside of their leaves. The sword fern Nephrolepis exaltata is known in English as the Boston fern. According to tradition, a particularly lush variety was noticed in a plant shipment to Boston at the end of the 19th century and made its way from there into living rooms.
